Vrushika Mehta, who moved to Canada after getting married, returned to Mumbai specifically for Navratri celebrations. The actress from Dil Dosti Dance (D3) shares, "As a Gujarati, Navratri and garba are ingrained in me. For me, no festivity is complete without them. The music fills me with energy, and I can start dancing garba at any moment (laughs)." She expresses, "I am thrilled to dress up, catch up with friends, and dance. Despite being a lifelong Mumbai resident, I've been told that for the ultimate Navratri experience, I must visit Gujarat. That's definitely a dream for me, and I hope to fulfill it someday."
Reflecting on her childhood memories of Navratri, she reminisces, "My mom used to decorate me and to make me sit still for the three dots on my chin, she would tempt me with chocolates (laughs). I was quite competitive and was determined to win a prize every evening. It was all about dancing passionately and feeling like a little star."
Regarding her preferred Navratri attire, she mentions, "I adore flared chaniya cholis, but I opt for lightweight ones to ensure comfort and elegance in my spins. For jewelry, if I'm filming a reel, I choose something bold to make a statement. However, for dancing, I prefer delicate pieces that complement my outfit."She expressed her childhood desire to win every garba competition one day. Reflecting on her memories of the festival, she recalled how her mother would dress her up and bribe her with chocolates to sit still while she painted three dots on her chin. Being fiercely competitive, she was determined to win a prize each night, pouring her heart into dancing and feeling like a little star.
Regarding her preferred Navratri attire, she revealed her love for lightweight flared chaniya cholis that allow graceful spins. When it comes to jewelry, she opts for heavier pieces for video reels to make a statement, while choosing more delicate ones for dancing that complement her outfit.
Anticipating the day when she and her husband Saurabh can celebrate Navratri together, she mentioned his fondness for garba, which differs from her style. Though they have played garba at their wedding events, they are looking forward to experiencing Navratri celebrations together.
Vrushika shared that spins and the playful popatiyu are her favorite garba moves, occasionally adding in dodhiyu and trikoniya steps for variety. She revealed that "Dakla" is one of her cherished garba songs due to its infectious energy and praised Falguni Pathak for setting the perfect Navratri mood with her iconic songs.
Recalling her favorite on-set Navratri memory from the show Dil Dosti Dance, Vrushika reminisced about the fun-filled shoot of "Dholi Taro Dhol Baaje," which lasted half a day and was a blast. She also mentioned that garba was a regular feature at their D3 get-together parties.
